Fruit is an important staple of a healthy diet! To be honest, you don’t need a bunch of fancy recipes to eat lots of fruit! The best way to eat fruit, and lots of it, is fresh, raw, plain and simple! So by all means please do: Have fresh fruit in a bowl or basket on your kitchen counter or in the fridge at all times and let them “lure” you into eating them, just because they are there, so beautifully inviting! Have some unsweetened dried fruit in a glass jar with a tight lid so that they will stay moist and delicious. As for the rest, let me invite you in turn to find some yummy recipes on Cuisinicity that incorporate fruit.

I am new to this site and am learning lots of healthy alternatives. I am 79 years old and desperately trying to lose 10 lbs to reduce my bulging belly. The almost immediate advantage I have noticed is when I eat this way I am NOT hungry which has been a huge problem with earlier diets (and I’ve tried them all). I have lost about 2″ off my height in the last 2 years which has shortened my torso and left me with this belly. Is it truly possible to reduce this mid bulge at my age? I think you would say I am a young 79, still very much into fashion, etc. Would appreciate your advice.
One other thing – I’m afraid I love butter but only use organic grass-fed, is that acceptable?
Thanks so much
Anne (from Canada)
Dear Anne, Just reading your comment and feeling your determination tells me you are one amazing person! I can’t give advice really but I would say this: Don’t make perfection the enemy of good! In other words, be gentle with your changes, you are doing great already! if you love butter, then have it from time to time, and little by little see if you can replace it with olive oil or canola oil in your cooking or if you like it spread on your toast, or on top of your pasta, try spreads that have no saturated fat in them like regular smart balance or earth balance, and just experiment. Mostly, just keep doing what you started, it sounds like youa re well on your way! (I have so many yummy recipes that I could swear taste “buttery” and I am Frenchie!). Keep up the fashio, my sweet Anne, you strike me as doing exactly what you are supposed to do! Bravo!
love,
Catherine
bonjour, et y a de quoi faire dans ces belles recettes!! merci !
great article
Hi Tommi! I wonder how you are doing since we last had this exchange? have you been trading up for better ingredients at the supermarket? Have you tried a recipe or 2? I’d love to know I was able to help a little bit–I care!
in looking to change my lifestyle . I want to be healthier. HELP
Good for you Tommi! You are already on the right track! Start by checking what you have in your pantry by reading food labels and try to trade up for each and everyone of them. You’ll be surprised how much you can improve your diet, one informed choice at a time. If you need help with that, feel free to download our Nutrition Detectives program, it’s free and available to all. If you are so lucky to have NUVAL in your supermarket, it will make your task easier still–just look for the NUVAL score on the supermarket shelf, right next to the price, the higher the number, the better. Finally, start making a recipe or 2 from my website, and it will guide you as well. I hope this helps! You can do this!!
