“Saturated Fats: What’s the Real Story?” is a great interview with Dr David Katz by True Health Initiative Council member Dan Pardi.  I highly recommend it: It is everything that Cuisinicity is based on!

I really enjoyed this! As someone who aims to educate her community about nutrition and chronic disease, I needed to hear this! If we can educate our communities, it’s a start bc they will have the knowledge to make better decisions. Unfortunately, we also have to tackle food deserts. What is the name of the nutrition text book Dr. Katz wrote (mentioned around 22:22) ?

What is the consensus regarding those physicians who are recommending a diet free of ALL oils?

Thanks for posting this interview. It was very informative.
I’ve been making milk kefir and it is made with whole milk. Does the benefits of the kefir out weigh the fat in the whole milk?

Hi Laura, I have to be honest, I don’t know the answer to this question but I can find out for you. I imagine if that’s your only source of saturated fat, the good outweighs the bad but again, I am not knowledgeable enough about this to give it justice. I’ll be back!!

        Catherine,
Thanks for looking into it for me. I look forward to your reply. I know that probiotics are all the rage right now, but after
hearing your husbands interview about saturated fat, I’m really interested in the answer.

I listened to this conversation early this am and in a short period of time it reinforced so many observations about truth vs. for profit hype when it comes to nutrition and health for both humans and the earth that feeds us. Info overload and too busy lives keep so many people from really digging into the facts vs. nutritional fiction de jure. Take 30 minutes and listen to this conversation. It separates the fact from fiction.

I am sorry to say this. But Mr. Dan Pardi did not let David Katz talk. This was not an interview of Dr. David Katz. This was a self advertisement of Mr. Dan Pardi I listened for 30 minutes waiting to hear something about saturated fats before I gave up and turned off.

I agree they did not get to the saturated fats discussion until near the end of the conversation, but the conversation prior to that was very informative. Especially with regard to facts vs. fiction by not-so-expert journalists in the field of nutrition.
