As the year 2018 peeks around the corner, I have a wonderful announcement to make: This coming Spring, David and I will be bringing our love of Mediterranean food to one of the places where it was born:
Sicily, Italy!
I would love to extend my personal invitation to all of you who have followed us all these years, to join me and my husband, Dr. David L. Katz, MD, on our Sicily Culinary Tour with Oldways!
It’s an absolute dream trip, all planned out by Oldways, Health Through Heritage, renowned for its fabulous culinary trips around the world, for the last 15 years (Click here to check some of the amazing trips from the prior years: WOW!!)
Great perk for registered dietitians: you are eligible for an estimated 17 CPE credits!
Here is our Itinerary
We arrive in Palermo on Sunday, April 8th, where David will offer his opening presentation and we’ll begin our trip with an exquisite wine tasting and welcome dinner, featuring Cuisinicity recipes, under the stars.
We’ll spend four nights in Palermo and three in Siracusa (Ortigia), with lots of adventure in between. In Palermo, we’ll visit spectacular food markets and museums, along with a longer guided tour of the Monreale Cathedral and its magnificent mosaics. We’ll have a day at Anna Tasca Lanza’s legendary cooking school/winery/restaurant/hotel Regaleali (WOW!! Click here for more information on this AMAZING place!) and another day at Agrigento, a large archaeological site with well-preserved Greek temples. We’ll finish our week in and around Ortigia, a small island which is the historical center of the city of Siracusa, well known for its stunning Greek amphitheater built in the 5th century BC.
…and of course, throughout our trip, we will play together with hands-on cooking classes, where you will get to know all my little tricks and learn first-hand the reasoning behind my recipes guided by David’s expertise in nutrition and preventive medicine. He is absolutely fascinating (and I am not just saying that because he is my husband)!! So, come join us in April and let’s share a week of cultural, culinary delight together on this one-of-a-kind Sicilian Culinary Tour.

Happy New Year to you and your lovely family! Your trip sounds like a dream come true unfortunately, I will not be able to join you and your husband this time. Hopefully in the future. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Happy New Year Catherine!!

Hi Mrs Katz
I just saw Dr David Katz video and was very impressed. I am having a hard time loosing weight blaming on toxins from chemo. Now suffering from rheumatoid Arthritis.
On a trip to Greece was amazed by the Mediterranean food. Soon to retire and was curious to know if you will have trips in the near future? Like this one to Sicily?
I loved your insights thank you!
Sonia rivera from Puerto Rico born in Brooklyn New York.
I am so sorry to hear, Sonia. We don’t have anything planned yet although Oldways would like us to do a culinary tour in Provence, the heart of the Mediterranean diet! I will keep you updated. In the meantime, don’t despair, keep on eating lots of veggies, fruit, beans and legumes and wholegrains and you WILL start to feel better. I am with you!
love, Catherine
Would this trip be appropriate for those who eat a mostly plant based diet (no feet or feathers)?
Absolutely Janet! That is the way our family eats too! There will be some fish and seafood as well but it will be mostly plants! 🙂
What is the maximum number of travelers on the Sicily Culinary Tour in April? Sounds fantastic! Thanks, Nancy
Hi Nancy!
I would LOVE it if you could join us!! Here is the answer I received from the coordinators at Oldways, I hope this is helpful:
Oldways food tours usually average 30-35 travelers, including staff and chefs, and never exceed 50 travelers. Abby Sloane is the trip coordinator, and will be able to answer more questions than I. Abby’s email address is asloane@oldwayspt.org
Please let me know if you need more info! So excited about this trip!!
Love,
Catherine
God bless you and Family.
Happy and blessed year 2018.
🙂
Happy new year Maritza, for you and your family filled with peace, health and joy! 🙂
