Today I want to share something very near and dear to my heart, and I presume dear to my fellow parents’s loving hearts out there. It has to do with trying to make a difference to preserve our beautiful planet so that our children and our grandchildren and their children will be able to still thrive in it.

Headed by my husband, Dr. David Katz, The True Health Initiative is launching a worldwide, one-week #NoBeefWeek Challenge, April 18-24, 2022, to send the message to industry leaders that the world has no appetite for hamburgers at the cost of biodiversity and planetary health. All this requires of each and everyone of us is to pledge to skip buying and consuming beef  during that week and help spread the word.

cuisinicity heartThat’s it! It seems like so little, it seems so ridiculously simple for this to make a difference, doesn’t it? It’s not!

Take a look at this chart illustrating what environmental impact eating just ONE single burger has on our planet :

Our food industry is about supply and demand. So, if, together, we demand less, they listen: in unity, there is strength! If each and every one of us, around the world, collectively stops buying beef for just one week, it sends a clear message! Just to give you a sense of the impact this can have, take a moment to imagine  just 1 million people around the world (that’s a very small fraction) taking the pledge to skip buying even just one burger for one week.  That collective small gesture would translate into the potential to save 6.7 million pounds of grains and forage, 52.8 million gallons of water, and over 10.3 million BTUs of fossil fuel energy.

This is just ONE BURGER! The repercussions are huge, enough to shake up the industry into listening. It is indeed that ridiculously simple, but we need to do this together!

I borrowed inspirational quotes from the #NoBeefWeek website to share with you because they really struck a chord with me. There are beautiful very meaningful others, so check them out.

So, between today and April, I’m inviting you to join me in this worldwide effort and go to the #NoBeefWeek website to SIGNUP!

All you need to do is take the pledge and spread the word, and, if you can afford it, please donate. Donations will be evenly split between this campaign at the True Health Initiative and the reforestation efforts in the Amazon by Health in Harmony.

In appreciation for your help in saving the Amazon Rainforest, I will send a beautiful Cuisinicity Apron to the first 10 Cuisinicity fans who donate $50 or more. The top supporters will also receive an autographed copy of my husband David’s book, How to Eat, co-authored by Mark Bittman.

When you make your donation, simply comment below letting me know that you supported the #NoBeefWeek challenge and I will connect with you privately for your address.

Thank you for joining my husband and me, and people around the world to help save the Rainforest!

with all my love,

We thought about that of course. One week is not enough to make a difference for them to go out of business but it’s enough to send a message to the industry.
